Artist Statement

I am a mid-westerner, wife, mom, artist, educator, mentor, story teller. I have always been intrigued with multiples in nature and in the manufactured world. I am an obsessive organizer/cleaner. I am a good listener, trustworthy, dependable. I am a hard worker. I have great friends and family. I like mowing and working in the yard. I make the beds every morning, almost never leave the house with dirty dishes in the sink, and check to make sure the doors are locked at least twice before leaving. I used to be a bartender, house sitter, and I detassled corn. I am a breast cancer survivor, I am an only child, my mom is an only child, my grandma is an only child, and my daughter is an only child. My parents taught me the value of hard work. I watch too much television and spend too much unprotected skin time in the sun during the summer. I listen to all kinds of music, and listen to it loud in the car. Roll Bounce and Some Like it Hot are two of my favorite movies. I enjoy being with my husband on a motorcycle. I am a mid-westerner, first generation college student, artist, educator, mentor, story teller. I make art about place, about the everyday, about things I am familiar with - corn, landscape, robins at spring time, washing dishes, mowing the lawn, tangled cords in a drawer....
